Welcome, Philosophy of Religion Students!

To earn up to an extra FIVE POINTS on your Rubin Museum Projects, please do the following:

1. Copy and Paste Your Rubin Museum Paper into a New Post.
  • Do not include the Museum Handout Information.
  • Include the photo of the work of art you researched for the Paper.
  • Put your name in the title of your post (for example, Dana Trusso's Rubin Museum Project).
  • Remember to include the Works Cited page.
2. Choose one student paper to read. Submit a comment on their post to begin a debate on the question, "Is Buddhism a Religion?"
  • In a well-developed paragraph, explain one counterargument to the author's position on whether or not they consider Buddhism a religion. Using the same critical thinking skills you used to analyze the arguments for God's existence, point out one disadvantage to the author's position. Remember to use logic and rational evidence, and to keep the tone calm, cool and collected!
3. Respond to the comment on your own paper.
  • Refute the counterclaim to your argument, or change your position if reasonable. Explain your newly revised position on whether or not Buddhism is a religion in a well-developed paragraph.
4. Reflect on your experience in the course in a separate comment.
  • Answer the question: How has learning about the complexities of doctrines and philosophical debates from global religions helped you gain a sense of self-awareness within both local and global contexts?
5. Copy and paste a link from your Blogger post into this course's e-Portfolio page.
  • Log in to ePortfolio.
  • Click on HUP105.
  • Click on "Assessment" tab.
  • Copy and Paste link to your post on Blogger. Submit.
  • See handout on Blackboard "Content" for more details.
